The Placemat Story
Full-time nursing student, Ryan Reisdorf saw something the hospitality world didn’t think logistically made sense. A passion to help others attain their best health, Ryan created the concept of Placemat sitting in class. With clinical hours exceeding more than 30 hours per week Ryan had limited time to tend to his absolute passion of bringing feel-good food to people in the places most comfortable. As a type 1 diabetic, Ryan knew first hand that our health starts with what’s on our plate and his idea was that Placemat was going to bring that to the table.
Capitalizing on the local tourism economy is how Placemat entered the Nashville market with ease in 2017. Posing as a guest and reaching out to 160 individual short-term rental property owners pitching the concept landed the first Placemat meal on April 16th, 2017. The second Placemat meal occured on April 17th, 2017.
When a guest makes a reservation with Placemat, they're not only receiving a handcrafted wholesome meal made in the comfort of their own home, they're receiving personalized hospitality unlike traditional dining experiences at a restaurant, with a private chef or when hiring a catering company.
